Worship

hat does worship mean to you? How does your worship enhance your relationship with God? What ideas do you have about what authentic worship looks like? Is worship supposed to be more than what we do together on a Sunday morning? These are great questions to ask, and we're discovering fresh ways to worship every day, as we grow closer to God.

At Community Life Fellowship, we believe that worship is certainly much more than an act - it is in the broader sense a life in balance with God at the center. We feel that this type of life is what Jesus referred to as an abundant life - a life aligned with God's will, and one filled with peace and joy. A life of worship is a dynamic life of faith - fluid and changing with intentional focus on our growing relationship with to God. It is a life characterized by God's purposes: connected, growing, serving others, reaching out, and giving God the glory He deserves as our loving God. This is the treasure of Worship.

Jesus taught that God looks for people who worship in spirit and in truth. So our life of worship needs to be characterized by these things. It is to be empowered by God through His Holy Spirit that is within every believer - God provides us with the power we need to discover a worshipful life. And Worshiping in truth requires a sincere heart oriented toward God, accepting God's eternal truth.

If you have never had the opportunity to be in a Spirit-filled service before, you will discover that Biblical expressions of worship are still practiced today. Join in with us as we praise God together in spirit and in truth. We are scripturally commanded to worship our God. "Love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment." Mat 22:37-38 NIV

"The Lord is pleased with those who worship him and trust his love." Psalm 147:11 CEV

"I don't want sacrifices - I want your love; I don't want your offerings - I want you to know me." Hosea 6:6 LB

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matt 22:36-40

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only." Luke 4:8

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. John 4:23

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:15-16

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29for our "God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:28

Join in with us as we praise God together in spirit and in truth through Biblical Expressions of Worship. We pray together aloud because in the Bible we read, "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord" Acts 4:24

We lift our hands in praise because in the Bible we read, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord" Psalm 134:2

We sing with all our hearts because in the Bible we read, "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise" Psalm 98:4

We play musical instruments because in the Bible we read, "And all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments" 2 Samuel 6:5

We clap and shout unto God because in the Bible we read, "O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph" Psalm 47:1

We dance before the LORD because in the Bible we read, "Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs" Psalm 150:4

We testify publicly because in the Bible we read, "I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee" Psalm 22:22

We anoint with oil for divine healing because in the Bible we read, "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord" James 5:14

We allow the operation of the spiritual gifts because in the Bible we read, "When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation" 1 Corinthians 14:26
